Position Overview

Houzz is seeking a talented Pricing Economist for our rapidly growing Marketplace. With over 10M products and 40M monthly unique users, Houzz is already a leading ecommerce destination for home goods. A distributed network of 3rd-party sellers and drop-ship vendors ship directly to Houzz users across the globe. As such, we're investing heavily in products that drive seller acquisition, performance, and success; all of which ultimately improve the buying experience for our consumers.

In this role, you will work closely with engineering, product, sales and operations to develop methods for analyzing and providing guidance on an array of subjects like pricing, logistics, cost optimization and fulfillment. You will gain access to a rich variety of research problems and data-sets, a world-class analytics platform and the opportunities to create real business and social impact.

Responsibilities
Develop new econometric models or improve existing approaches for pricing
Build models and work with large data complex data sets to do deeper analysis
Work closely with engineering teams to build scalable solutions and implement experiments in production
Apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast moving environment
Work with eCommerce team to drive business growth through pricing strategy, shipping efficiency, logistics etc.

Qualifications
PhD in Economics, Operations Research, Data Science or related field
3+ years of relevant industry experience
Strong background in statistics methodology, applications to business problems, and/or big data
Advanced SQL skills
Experience with data munging and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
Strongly data-driven and technical; ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to identify key insights, spot optimization opportunities, and inform product decisions
Extremely detail-oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
