Housing Policy Economist

NAHB is seeking an experienced economist to conduct economic research related to housing policy issues and housing economics, and to serve as an internal consultant to other parts of NAHB regarding economic analysis and data. The individual will analyze and report findings, contribute articles to publications, monitor targeted policy developments and work with association members and others on various committees.

The right candidate will bring a solid knowledge of economic theory and the ability to apply it. Must be able to produce organized and credible analysis of proposed and existing policies by adapting and applying existing research and data to housing issues. Requires advanced ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets, as well as ability to write program code in a language such as SAS in order to combine and manipulate large data sets. Requires demonstrated ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences in both written and oral presentations

We requires at least 3 years of experience in utilizing data sources for housing, economic, financial, and demographic information, and have thorough understanding of economic theory and statistical techniques. Knowledge of government programs and policies useful. Requires Ph.D. in Economics or related field or comparable in combined education and work experience.
