The International Academy, a department of the University of Essex, is seeking a professional individual with a strong academic background to teach on the International Diploma, an alternate pathway programme for international students for direct entry onto second-year degree level study at the University of Essex.

The appointee will be responsible for tutoring in Economics and related subjects, such as Quantitative Methods. The lecturer will be responsible for ensuring that the classes and tutorials prepare students to meet the learning outcomes, cover the syllabus in an interactive and dynamic environment and provide students with a thorough knowledge of the subject. The lecturer will collaborate with the academic and administration staff to enhance this supportive learning and teaching environment, so that students are equipped to succeed in the second and third years of university study.

Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in the relevant discipline and be experienced in teaching in higher or further education. It is desirable that the appointee has cross-cultural teaching experience, and essential that they have a willingness to take a flexible approach to teaching the subject in an expanding and dynamic department.

The post will be based at the University of Essex's campus at Colchester and is to commence no later than 29 September 2014.
