The Role

Applications are invited for at least one Lectureship in Economics on a full time ongoing basis.

We are seeking applicants who are capable of publishing research of international excellence in order to contribute toward the strong research profile of the School and who will engage fully in the teaching of undergraduate and post graduate students. We have a particular teaching need for an appointment to cover existing modules in Development Economics at final year undergraduate and post graduate level and seek an excellent candidate who can publish and teach in that area of the discipline. However, well qualified applicants in the area of Financial Macroeconomics will also be considered seriously.

The Person

You will hold a strong first degree or equivalent in Economics or cognate discipline (e.g mathematics or statistics) and have completed a PhD or equivalent in any research area of Economics cognisant with this appointment.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong track-record of research and publication in the field of Economics or can provide us with evidence of progress towards establishing such a record. You will also need to have experience in making applications for external funding for research.

The Department

The School has a strong research culture, 16th in RAE 2008, and a good reputation for teaching and learning, in the top 10 of the National Student Survey since its inception, and 4th for teaching and 9th for overall student satisfaction in the Guardian University Guide 2015.

The School of Economics plays a core role in the Faculty of Social Sciences. A strong group of new appointments have been made in recent years and this has led to a growing reputation in several fields of research, particularly applied microeconomics, macroeconomics and finance, economic development, behavioural economics, agricultural economics and with strong links to European research debates. The School is seeking to develop this research base. The School's current plan is to increase its postgraduate and overseas student numbers.
