The primary purpose of the post is to support research and teaching in the relevant subject area. The post is offered at one of three levels - Lecturer Grade F, Lecturer Grade G, or Senior Lecturer Grade H. The level of appointment will be determined by your ability to meet the requirements of the person specification and job description.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who: i) has a research interest in the relevant subject area; ii) has, or aspires to conduct research that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour; iii) will pursue external funding; iv) will attract and supervise research postgraduates; v) has a commitment to high quality teaching in their subject area; and vi) will work with colleagues as an important part of an existing team. Normally, candidates should meet AACSB criteria for being deemed academically qualified i.e. have a PhD in the relevant subject area and maintenance of their subject expertise through publication, or to be Professionally Qualified through having a masters degree or equivalent professional qualification in the appropriate area.
Once in post, you will be expected to:
Contribute to the research profile by publishing in high quality journals and winning external research funding. You will have a publication profile commensurate with being included in the REF
Provide high quality teaching of modules within the Business School
Coach and support students throughout their studies, and act as a personal tutor
Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with University standards
Contribute to curriculum development.
The primary purpose of the post is to provide research and teaching input into the School's Economics subject group. The Economics group runs the following well-established and highly rated undergraduate degrees in economics and postgraduate degrees in banking, economics, finance and risk management:

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the Economics group's undergraduate and postgraduate curricula; to contribute to the supervision of PhD students; to produce high-quality research and to pursue external funding opportunities wherever possible.
The Economics group is engaged in a wide range of research activity, embracing quantitative, qualitative and experimental research methods. We have particular research strengths in the following areas: Applied Econometrics; Applied Microeconomics; Banking and Finance; Development Economics; Economics of Safety; Environmental Economics; Health Economics; Labour Economics; Mathematical Economics; Microeconomic Theory.
Members of the group have published in numerous highly-rated journals in Economics and Finance, including Economics Letters; Canadian Journal of Economics; Economic Theory; International Economic Review; Journal of Applied Econometrics; Journal of Banking and Finance; Journal of Empirical Finance; Journal of Health Economics; Journal of International Money and Finance; Journal of Mathematical Economics; Journal of Money, Credit and Banking; Journal of Risk and Uncertainty. Several members of the group hold editorial positions with leading journals in economics, econometrics and finance.
