Data is a key ingredient for Groupon and Groupon's Consumer Insights team acts as the internal voice of the Groupon customer and merchant, using research and data to inform, to inspire recommendations, and to guide decisions throughout all aspects of the business. The team is in a unique position of offering insights and gaining visibility throughout the entire business.

We are seeking a highly-motivated Market Researcher Analyst with a significant focus on large-scale databases and strong attention to detail. This position will support various steps throughout the research process and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the subscriber and merchant data we use to make key marketing decisions. As an integral player in the market research team, the analyst will ensure that data are accurate, representative and accessible enough to make real-time decisions. The Analyst will also support complex research studies that incorporate survey data with larger Groupon data warehouse insights. Working with Research colleagues, the analyst will drive business insights by seamlessly funneling and contextualizing data for all subscriber and marketing channels.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Write SQL queries to retrieve data for sample and customer analysis from our MySQL , OLTP and Teradata OLAP datastores
Identify insights from data warehouse data and suggest actionable recommendations
Conduct quantitative measurements and methods to take our research data to the next level (i.e., managing integration and analysis from various sources)
Correlate data from multiple sources
Use excel to analyze survey data
Create Tableau and PPT dashboards/reports to represent key insights
Work with Groupon developers to determine additional instrumentation/processes


Job Requirements:

Good SQL and SAS skills
Excellent Excel skills (you love pivot tables)
Excellent Tableau skills (you love dashboards)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a simple, easy-to-understand way
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve issues with data - if we think we can't get something, figure out how
Independent and motivated learner – find the right people within the organization to teach you what you need to know
Familiarity with market research principles

Job Specifications:

Degree in a quantitative discipline, like mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering (or equivalent experience)
2 - 4 years of professional experience with data analytics
Experience in marketing is a plus, experience in market research is a big plus
Working knowledge of SPSS
Past experience with Teradata
Experience using Salesforce for analytics
Proactive ability to get things done with a small team
Love working in a fast paced environment
Thrives working on multiple projects and cross-functional teams
