The Blavatnik School of Government (BSG) and the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford are seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar, accomplished teacher, and institution-builder to the Professorship of Economic Policy. This post has been created through the generous support of the Open Society Foundation and the Blavatnik Foundation.

The Blavatnik School of Government is a global school pursuing a vision of better government, stronger societies and richer human opportunities across the world. The Department of Economics is one of the largest and most diverse groups of academic economists in Europe, aiming to produce first-class research across the range of the discipline.

The successful candidate will be a scholar of international distinction with an excellent track record of research and publications in development economics and policy and will undertake further original and influential research of high significance in this field. She/He will provide inspirational teaching and academic leadership in research in the field of development economics and policy, ideally with particular emphasis on Africa, and will have excellent communications skills and experience in providing policy advice to governments and non-governmental agencies. In addition, she/he will become Director of the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), a joint venture between the school and the Department of Economics, and will contribute to the overall development of the innovative academic programmes at the BSG and Department of Economics and BSG's profile as a world-leading provider of public policy education, training and research of the highest academic standard.
