Job Scope
The Project Coordinator/Economist reports to Visa's Chief Economist in supporting him and his team, Visa Business and Economic Insights, in their analysis of the economy's impact on Visa, Visa clients and the payments industry overall. The valued team member must balance his or her individual analytical contributions with enabling the work of the larger team. Visa Business and Economic Insights advises internal and external audiences on the forces that have and will shape Visa's business for decades to come. This position provides ample opportunity to contribute to larger economic analytical projects, including forecasts and projections of Visa volume growth, covering multiple global markets.
This individual is also responsible for creating presentations to help the group provide thought leadership to executives within the company as well as leaders throughout the banking industry and merchants across the globe. At the same time, he or she administers the core functions of the group through budgeting, expensing, group publication distribution, and other organizational duties. The role is also responsible for maintaining a consumer credit benchmarking database for over one hundred contributing financial institutions.

Responsibilities
• Develop and contribute to the Chief Economist's semi-annual presentation to Visa's largest issuing and merchant clients; engage similarly in the creation of group's semi-annual bankcard industry trends presentation
• Analyze the bankcard industry to create quarterly industry-level and individualized peer-comparison reports from a unique and proprietary database; aggregate the inputs and maintain the database
• Author periodic overviews of consumer economic issues for select Visa markets; synthesize VisaNet data with government statistics
• Serve as a resource to country managers around the world on latest economic intelligence, relaying regular updates and responding to questions and concerns
• Administer key department functions:
 - Create advanced PowerPoint presentations and other publications to support the group
 - Manage department budget, purchase orders, invoices, and vendor relationships
 - Review/edit/modify department documents to ensure consistency
 - Book/manage staff training events (in person, WebEx)
 - Produce/validate/distribute executive briefing materials
 - Provide executive support to Chief Economist including managing calendar, meetings, travel and expenses

Qualifications

• B.A. in economics preferred; equivalent professional experience (4-6 years) providing a solid foundation of economic fundamentals and relationships will be considered
• One year economic business experience preferred
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Advanced level PowerPoint highly preferred, working knowledge required
• Use of PC-based econometric models (EViews) a plus, including the ability to update existing models
• Ability to understand and translate macroeconomic events and trends to the payments industry
• Ability to identify and build the required fact base to support project work, including leveraging a wide variety of internal and external sources
• Eagerness to work in joint teams with personnel of all levels to accomplish project objectives
• A professional demeanor, effective phone manner and strong oral and written communications skills are critical
• Customer service focused and ability to work collaboratively with others
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail
• Must be proactive & solution oriented, looking for ways to add value and assist the team
• Ability to coordinate internal and external resources
• Highly proficient on all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Commitment to continuous learning
