Real Estate Economist

Job Description

NORC at the University of Chicago is hiring a Real Estate Economist for its Business Ventures & Innovation Department.

This position, located in Boston, will be working alongside a team of experienced economists to develop forecasts and novel research regarding commercial real estate. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact in building and designing a new product for the industry. The Real Estate Economist, will use economic theory to model commercial real estate markets, and be required to produce timely forecasts. In addition, this position with be required to write novel, creative, well written thought leadership articles. This economist will be in regular communication with clients regarding economic and commercial real estate questions. Additionally this position will be required to present regularly to clients and management.

Responsibilities:

Work with the team of economists to produce quarterly forecasts
Provide written analysis supporting forecasts and helping clients with outcomes
Monitor current trends within the sector and write timely analysis on relevant topics
Write in-depth whitepapers about emerging trends within the sector
Participate in regular client presentations
Provide ongoing, as needed support to clients regarding economic or forecast data.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree with commercial real estate experience, Master's or PhD degree in economics preferred.
Must have strong presentation and communication skills
Demonstrated evidence of strong writing skills
Depth of experience with STATA, SAS, or R, or other relevant statistical software package
Proficiency in using the advanced functions of Microsoft Office suite
