Regulatory Manager - Economic Analysis

This is an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water, the UK's largest water company serving London and the Thames Valley, as Regulatory Manager - Economic Analysis. Operating as a key player in the modelling team, you will provide high quality economic regulatory advice and analysis across the business to help shape our strategy, to drive value and to lead the regulatory debate.

In this role you will play a central part in developing Thames Water's strategy to both influence and respond to those developments, ensuring that the business maximises the potential from new opportunities, whilst protecting its long-term interests.

What will this role involve?

The Regulatory Manager - Economic Analysis will:
Lead projects by using detailed quantitative and econometric techniques to provide high quality specialist economic and regulatory advice and analysis on a wide range of economic regulatory issues.
Provide a source of economic and modelling expertise to assist the business in analysis of areas of complexity, to ensure the business makes decisions based on robust quantitative analysis of the issues.
Communicate key findings from complex analysis to a wide range of audiences including senior managers and the Executive Team.
Draft and manage responses to Ofwat consultations on economic and regulatory issues, particularly related to Ofwat's econometric modelling.
Provide particular economic expertise in areas of totex efficiency modelling, interpretation of willingness-to-pay data and development of outcome delivery incentives.
Provide expert economic and quantitative advice and analysis on a range of issues to support the annual business planning cycle and to develop strategy and tactics for the quinquennial review of price controls.

What skills are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding and practical experience of economic analysis with a degree level qualification in an analytical subject, preferably economics or maths. A background in water, energy, or another regulated industry would be beneficial.

You will need first class communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex regulatory issues in clear terms to non-specialists and to high profile internal and external audiences. You will also need to be a strong team player and have high level competency in analytical, conceptual & strategic thinking.

This role is based at the Thames Water HQ in Reading, only minutes from Reading train station and 25 minutes from London Paddington, paying an annual salary of £55k-£60k plus an attractive benefits package including car allowance and bonus.
