Research Assistant: Health and Wellbeing

We wish to recruit an exceptional candidate at the Research Assistant level preferably with expertise in health services research, health economics, another branch of economics or quantitative analysis of health/healthcare data. Current Health and Wellbeing (HWB) team members have backgrounds in health services research, health economics, public health, psychology, sociology and other social science and health services research disciplines.

The role will be based at our Cambridge (UK) office and will work with colleagues not only at RAND Europe but also with our partners at the University of Cambridge in the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research (CCHSR).

Fluency in English is essential and proficiency in one or more other languages would be an asset.

We are looking for applicants with a postgraduate degree (Master or PhD) or equivalent experience in health services research, health economics, another branch of economics or quantitative analysis of health/healthcare data, combined with a desire to undertake policy relevant research in the field of healthcare, health and wellbeing.

Please note this is an entry-level 2-year fixed term position.


You will be required to:

• Support project teams in research by:
o undertaking analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
o conducting literature reviews
o conducting, supporting and transcribing interviews
o preparing presentations and research briefs
o coordinating meetings and events, including taking minutes
o drafting sections of reports, under supervision

• Analyse calls for tender to identify proposal requirements, with supervision

• Support the collation of administrative documents for proposals

• Proofread and check documents

• Make corporate contributions through supporting RAND processes such as quality assurance and research ethics

• Provide occasional corporate support with administrative tasks

• Communicate with external collaborators and clients, with supervision



You will have:

• A postgraduate degree, or equivalent experience, in health economics, another branch of economics or quantitative analysis of health/healthcare data

• Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and their application

• Basic report writing skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

• Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint and Word
