Research Associate

CFED is seeking a Research Associate in our Washington, D.C. office to assist with and conduct economic, quantitative, qualitative and policy analyses for CFED's Applied Research Team. Reporting to the Director of Applied Research, the Research Associate will provide intensive research support on projects related to savings and financial security, asset building, entrepreneurship, innovation, customer and market insights and behavioral economics.

Responsibilities:

Provide research support in several of CFED's core policy and program areas including: collect and analyze quantitative data, construct data files, prepare tables, write reports, review literature, investigate issues, summarize and/or code qualitative data and conduct surveys, interviews, and site visits as necessary
Perform program support activities including website content development and management, program-related communications support for webinars, and coordination of meetings and conferences
Assist with the drafting and editing of reports, publications, presentations, blog posts and other communications materials
Provide administrative support to Applied Research staff, such as meeting scheduling and coordination, note-taking, file management, etc. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, sociology, geography, public policy, business or related field; or equivalent work experience
1-2 years of previous Research experience
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently as well as a member of a broader team
Experience with quantitative research methods, including collection, management and statistical analysis of secondary data (e.g., Census, BLS, and BEA datasets) and original survey data
Experience with qualitative research methods, including planning and facilitating interviews or focus group, coding and analysis of qualitative data is preferred
Strong computer and database management skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with STATA and Atlas TI is a plus
Experience with or interest in behavioral science and program evaluation is desirable
Ability to travel occasionally
