Institute for Fiscal Studies Economics logo

Institute for Fiscal Studies
London - United Kingdom
S: £70,000 to £85,000

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) is Europe’s leading centre for research on the microeconomics of public policy. It is a politically independent registered charity that bridges the gap between policymakers and academics. The research teams at IFS conduct high-quality empirical research, which impacts the policy debate, the media, and policymakers.

We are recruiting a Research Director to lead our work on taxation and social protection in low- and middle-income countries through the Centre for Tax Analysis in Developing Countries (TAXDEV), which is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).

This is an excellent opportunity to shape IFS’s research agenda in this area, work with some of the world’s leading researchers, and conduct and publish top quality economic research. The Director will guide the research of colleagues, participate actively in the intellectual life at IFS, and further develop relationships with a network academics, policymakers, and partners to ensure impact.

The successful candidate will have a very good post-graduate qualification in economics, an excellent publishing record and the ability to originate and develop scientifically rigorous and policy relevant research ideas. The candidate should also be able to motivate a team of researchers, and have experience of communicating academic findings clearly with policymakers, and of raising additional funding for research.
