This position is for an experienced Research Fellow to join the Social and Mathematical Epidemiology (SaME) research group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The post-holder will play a major role in the development of the Gender, Violence and Health Centre's research on the economic evaluation of violence against women prevention programs. This will include the continued development of guidelines on the rigorous costing of violence prevention programming; conducting full economic costing of up to three violence prevention programmes in different LMIC settings; the development of a refined DALY measure, that can be used to quantify the health benefits of violence prevention; and consideration of potential alternative approaches to valuing benefits, such as the use of human capability approaches. The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD or near completion (post VIVA) in a relevant area of economics; demonstrated experience conducting research on the economics of violence prevention in sub-Saharan Africa and on methodological research on approaches to valuing the benefits of gender focused programmes; excellent analytic skills, including both quantitative and qualitative data analysis; ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse team, and to maintain effective collaborative relationships with partners; demonstrated interest in gender and health, and commitment to maintaining effective partnerships with civil society, academic and UN partners; proven ability to lead the writing up of research findings for academic publication and/or other formats; willingness to travel, including potentially spending some time in partner countries, to lead overseas research, and attend partner meetings; excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to deliver research outputs to project deadlines.

The appointment will be full-time available immediately for 18 months in the first instance and will be based in London. Salary will be on the Academic Pathway, grade 6 (£37,106 - £42,139 pa including London weighting). Appointment will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions.
