The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking an outstanding individual for a new role of Research Officer, based in the Department with frequent travel to the UNDP in New York City on behalf of a new £20 million research Hub funded by UKRI GCRF. In addition to the base salary, up to £10,000 per annum may be claimed to cover living expenses in NYC and there will be an additional allowance for travel. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a remarkable research programme within a both vibrant departmental and international setting. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until 12 February 2024.

The UKRI GCRF Accelerating Achievement for Africa's Adolescents Hub launched in February 2019 with Professor Lucie Cluver as Principal Investigator (PI). Led by the University of Oxford, along with an impressive roster of academic and NGO partners, the Hub is an initiative to help African teens achieve their full potential.

Your work will contribute to the effectiveness of front-line research with life-changing impact. As an experienced researcher, you will ideally hold a postgraduate degree in health, economics, social sciences or public administration. With an emphasis on policy influence, you will be able to demonstrate programmatic and policy aspects of adolescent development. As part of a diverse team, you will have the ability to work independently, showing initiative and innovation. Experience in adolescent development work in Africa and the ability to speak and understand French and/or Portuguese would be highly advantageous.
