Department Overview
The jobholder will join Barclays EMEA Economics team and be based in London.

The team comprises ten analysts, located in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan, and in turn forms part of the Global Economics Team, which provides Barclays with world-wide coverage of economic developments.

Main Duties
The jobholder will work closely with the Chief UK Economist to help develop and communicate the firm's views on economic and policy developments in the UK as they affect the markets for financial assets, including government and corporate bonds, equities and foreign exchange. The main responsibilities are:

To produce regular forecasts of key UK economic data and instant commentary on data news for traders, salespeople and external clients To assist the Chief UK Economist in the production of thematic research notes and client presentations
To assist in the production of the research team's flagship products, the Global Outlook, the European Economics Quarterly, the Global Economics Weekly and the Global Traders' Guide
To maintain and develop analytical databases of economic data
To provide clients with economic information and analysis as required

Person Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:

A first-rate academic record, including a degree in economics (2:1 or above) from top-tier universities
Excellent communication skills written and oral in English
A flexible approach to working, including an ability to adapt and re-prioritise in the face of unfolding events
