Te turanga – The role

The work that our Economics department contributes to is critical to the achievement of our economic objectives and strategic priorities, supporting and advancing the most important work streams at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand - Te Putea Matua.

As a Senior Analyst in the Policy Research and Development team, you will:

• Apply your strong econometric modelling skills to an ever-changing range of policy questions on inflation and labour market dynamics, alternative monetary policy tools, and what the latest data mean for the outlook for monetary policy in New Zealand.
• Lead projects, mentor others, and present analysis to the Monetary Policy Committee.
• Maintain academic linkages, publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.

To be successful, you will have:

• A post-graduate degree in economics, econometric or similar quantitative discipline.
• An effective collaborative approach that draws on the knowledge and skills of colleagues and other stakeholders, and constructively contributes to the work of others.
• A solid understanding of macroeconomics and the key issues facing the New Zealand and global economy.
