Organization Overview:
The Environment and Resources Division (ERD) assists federal and state environmental and resource management agencies address complex policy, management, and regulatory challenges. Our range of services include economic analysis, risk assessments, environmental modeling, regulatory and voluntary program support, and IT solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA with 6 - 8 years of experience OR MA/MBA (3) years of experience OR PhD (Entry Level) OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Be part of an interdisciplinary team conducting research in support of several national-level natural resource and environmental programs.
Carry out research, literature searches, and statistical and other quantitative analyses supporting projects encompassing one or more of the following topics: water resource management; drinking water public health regulations, pesticide use regulations.
Manage junior staff and lead small to medium size projects. This includes managing all aspects of the project including technical quality, budgeting, and client relations.
Support business development activities, including proposal development, under the direction of the practice lead.
Skills Prerequisites:
The preferred candidate will have a Master's Degree in economics, resource/environmental economics, or a related discipline with an outstanding academic record. Coursework in finance, mathematics, quantitative methods, biology, ecology, physical and/or environmental sciences is desirable. Excellent oral communication, writing, and analytical skills are essential. The candidate must have 3+ years of consulting or related experience:
Conducting economic research focused on natural resource or environmental policy.
Using statistical software packages such as SAS to analyze economic, environmental, and/or survey data.
Documenting analyses and writing reports.
The following expereince, while not required, is prefered:
Managing small teams of researchers.
Managing small to medium size research projects.
Expereince working with government clients (especially the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
