JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide investment strategies for the Emerging Market Debt Fund, undertaking fundamental credit research to assess value and identify investment opportunities in the Emerging Market sovereign and quasi-sovereign universe. In particular, the research includes developing econometric models (on currencies, local rates, and external spreads over US Treasury rates), building sovereign fundamental credit models (fiscal budget, balance of payment, gross external financing needs, international reserve adequacy), understanding quasi-sovereign leverage and performance indicators, meeting with Emerging Market policy makers (Central Bank Governors, Ministers of Finance, and Economists), and going on-site to assess a country's economic, social, and political dynamics. After gathering insight from these different efforts and arriving at a forward looking conclusion, identify and recommend investment opportunities for the external and domestic Emerging Market Debt Funds. Analyze market technicals to identify the most suitable fixed-income securities and understand the interest rate risk that such recommendations would entail for the portfolios. Prepare ad-hoc reports to clients when they request information on Emerging Market developments. Perform quantitative/ modeling tasks using econometric/statistical software

REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the position offered or as a Financial Analyst, Research Analyst, Sovereign Credit Analyst or related occupation. Position requires analytical/research experience in Emerging Markets with strong quantitative skills. In particular, must have experience and knowledge in macroeconomic accounting for Emerging Market economies, experience and knowledge of economic policy making in Emerging Markets, experience and knowledge with econometric/statistical software, knowledge of econometric forecasting (time series analysis), experience and knowledge of fixed-income mathematics and asset pricing, knowledge (no experience required) of corporate accounting modelling (required to analyze quasi-sovereign corporates). Experience may be gained during attainment of graduate education.
