We work with energy leaders to aggressively strengthen their enterprises and help them make choices that ensure energy reliability, efficiency, and serviceability, as well as improve business performance. We focus on issues across the entire electric and natural gas energy value chain including fuels, generation (renewable, fossil, hydro, nuclear), transmission, energy markets, energy delivery, and consumption (including energy efficiency and demand response).

Responsibilities:
Navigant is looking for a economist with experience in applied econometrics to join our Energy Efficiency consulting group within the Energy practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects related to energy efficiency, demand response, innovative pricing incentive ratemaking, market analysis, and integration of supply-side and demand-side resources in planning. The position involves working with clients involved in a wide range of planning and evaluation activities within these subject areas, and interacting with government agencies, utility staff, third-party program implementers, equipment manufacturers, trade organizations, and efficiency advocates.

Developing and applying cutting-edge econometric models to energy data to find solutions;
Developing interview and survey guides for market actors, including end users;
Applying and advising on quantitative methods to develop sample designs;
Working with technology experts (engineers) to incorporate subject matter knowledge into statistical models;
Developing net benefit assessments for utilities, government, energy companies, and equipment suppliers
Developing recommendations for utility program implementers regarding the most effective way to improve program impacts and efficiency;
Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities to inform work plan design or other project activities;
Creatively presenting project results, including the use of graphics;
Preparing reports, presentations and other documents for clients;
Managing specific tasks within an existing scope of work.

Qualifications:
Master's degree Economics or Applied Economics, Focus on energy economics is preferred
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in the energy/utility industry (preferably related to evaluation of demand-side management programs)
Econometrics expertise, with experience in applying a wide variety of econometric models
A strong understanding of one or several econometrics and programming packages, such as R, SAS, Matlab, Stata, or Gauss. Proficiency in R is a plus.
Strong knowledge of recent advances in econometrics, statistics, decision theory, and benefit-cost analysis
Experience in energy economics analysis, especially analysis related to energy efficiency, demand response, innovative pricing, incentive ratemaking, market analysis, and integration of supply-side and demand-side resources in planning.
Familiarity with survey methodology, particularly sample design, and the integration of survey data in econometric models
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Willingness to travel for client interaction and to market econometric services.
