Senior Economist, International Development Economics Practice

We are seeking a Senior Economist to join the International Development Economics (IDE) practice at Nathan Associates Inc. The successful candidate should have a passion for applied economics and will serve several functions: provide thought leadership to IDE, identify new business development opportunities and generate new business, ascertain growth opportunities for IDE, provide technical assistance to economic development projects, supervise ongoing international projects; and develop and mentor junior economists in the IDE unit.

Required Qualifications

• Candidates are required to have an advanced degree in economics or finance, Ph.D. preferred, with specific training in international economics, development, macroeconomics, and public financial management.
• Minimum requirement of 15 years of experience working on applied international development issues and conducting country and/or regional analysis in a government, industry, or academic setting.
• Prior experience in project or program management including oversight of the identification and fielding of teams of technical experts.
• Candidates should have extensive experience working on donor-funded (preferably USAID) projects and possess excellent technical and project management skills.
• At least five years of professional field experience in a developing country setting.
• Other requirements include: ability to multitask projects with competing deadlines, creative problem solving, excellent writing and strong oral communication skills, excellent analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong team working skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in a pertinent foreign language
• Demonstrable expertise in trade capacity building and business enabling environment reform.
