Lecturer in Economics and Finance

University of Bedfordshire
Luton, Bedford or Milton Keynes - United Kingdom
S: £32,277 - £38,511

Join us as we embark on an exciting new phase of our development.

At the University of Bedfordshire Business School we are entering into an extraordinary period of development across a range of subject areas and departments.

We offer undergraduate, professional and postgraduate programmes to over 5000 students across our three campuses in Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes. In addition we have over 1500 students studying on our programmes overseas. We are targeting significant growth in our part time and corporate based activities whilst further enhancing our reputation in our very successful international activity.

Department of Accounting and Finance- Economics Section
The Department is expanding rapidly over the last five years. Plans are in place for future developments including the creation of a new Economics section. Staff are research active and there is a Centre for Contemporary Research in Accounting and Finance (now to expand to include Economics). The Department has its own Financial Dealing Rooms for teaching purposes. We have also recently invested a substantial amount in economics and financial databases and software to enhance our teaching and research infrastructure. The department is now developing practice-based techniques for complementing the theoretical knowledge of our students. The department has tripled its size in terms of staff and student numbers and is still growing.

This is a rare opportunity to play a role in the creation of a new Economics section. We have recently developed two new Economics courses: MSc Economics of International Business and BA Business Economics and we are therefore looking to appoint a Lecturer in Economics. It is hoped that this will be followed by further economics Courses. If you have expertise in the application of Economics in Finance, Financial Services or International Business or other aspects of Applied Economics your application would be particularly welcome but other specialisms will be considered. Applicants should also be willing and able to contribute to the delivery of Finance based course units. Applicants with excellent academic qualifications and research are sought but relevant industrial or commercial experience, particularly if to the above area, will be valued provided that other requirements are met.
