We are looking for a Senior Economist to join our Sustainable Development Team in St Helena. St Helena Island is an aid dependent self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom situated in the sub-tropics in the South Atlantic between St Helena and South Africa.

Offering sound analysis and support, your role will be varied and require a range of quantitative, technical, and non-technical skills, with potential to learn and expand on many working areas of economics. You will provide macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to the Treasury including inflation forecasts and revenue forecasts, feeding into the budgeting process.

You will support the crafting and disseminating of St Helena's economic outlook and use that to help shape government policy. Drawing on analysis conducted around government, you will ensure internal and external communication on the economy supports the government's economic objectives. You must oversee briefing material on the economy to a range of audiences across government, including press and private offices. You will develop business cases for the Capital Programme projects to UK Treasury Green Book standard.

Holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, or related field and A-level or equivalent in Mathematics, you will have experience undertaking economic analysis, policy development or implementation in one or more of the following areas: Macroeconomic Forecasting; Developing Project Appraisals; Finance Economics, Welfare Economics or Tax. You are adept at good quality report writing and have experience analysing and interpreting information, with the ability to define and use analytics to support decision making.

As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.

Our Benefits Package Includes:

Salary: £40k per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
An International Supplement of at least £15,800 per annum, full details can be found in the Overseas Vacancy Information below

Annual Pension Contribution of 7.5% of salary
Annual Leave of 30 days per annum, plus Public Holidays
