ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

FTI Consulting is seeking Senior Economists for Competition Policy Associates in Washington, DC to provide economic, statistical and financial analysis and modeling. This individual will design and conduct research projects related to litigation and regulatory proceedings, including antitrust or economic competition projects; gather, manipulate, analyze and interpret financial and economic data, including event studies, statistical hypothesis testing and linear regression analysis; identify key facts, summarize case information and recommend case strategy, applying advanced econometrics or industrial organization economic analysis and research skills; develop sophisticated econometric models using SAS, STATA or MATLAB tools; review literature, data and other information from client databases, public and commercial databases and specialized industry resources; use analytical tools and methodologies to analyze data, including large data set cleansing, processing and extraction from third party documents or data sources; and prepare and clearly/effectively present reports detailing quantitative research findings.

Requires a Ph.D. in economics, including substantial training in applied microeconomics and econometrics (willing to accept foreign education equivalent as well as candidates who have defended Ph.D. thesis). Candidates must demonstrate: advanced econometrics in an applied microeconomics field, such as industrial organization; applied economic analysis and research; independent research on particular industry competitive issues; clear/effective research presentation; demonstrated statistical analysis skills using at least two of SAS, STATA or MATLAB; large data set cleaning and processing; and completion of multiple economic research papers suitable for publication in top professional journals. Must present a minimum of three strong recommendation letters.
