The Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods has a large and diverse staff complement, and its teaching, research and knowledge transfer activity covers all aspects of economics and quantitative methods. It supplies over 30 general and specialist modules to the School's postgraduate and undergraduate portfolio, and hosts the BSc Business Economics degree, MSc & MA programmes in International Economic Policy and Analysis (which have recommended status with the UK's Government Economic Service) and the MA International Development Management. The Department has a growing research profile, of national and international quality, with particular strengths in labour market economics (as part of the renowned Centre for Employment Research), financial economics and international and development economics.

We are seeking an economist able to make an immediate high quality and innovative contribution to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will design, plan and deliver modules at a range of levels from undergraduate to Masters, and will be expected to continually update and improve them, using effective and student-focused teaching techniques, learning support and assessment methods. You will engage in research and scholarly activity, individually and in collaboration with colleagues, ensuring that the outputs of this activity are actively disseminated. You will also contribute to, and participate in, areas such as admissions, time-tabling, examinations, assessment of student progress and attendance as well as academic quality enhancement activities and processes.

You will have a PhD (or an equivalent level of knowledge), substantial teaching experience in higher education and/or professional experience (e.g. in industry, consultancy and/or private practice) and a proven research background, which may include applied research in industry and/or consultancy. You are expected to be a recognised expert in your subject field of Economics, and will be already actively engaged in professional and academic research and other scholarly activities, to an internationally recognised standard.
