Senior Lecturer/Reader in Economics

The University of Sheffield
Sheffield - United Kingdom
S: See advert text

The Department of Economics is committed to making a significant contribution to the knowledge and understanding of economic principles and issues through excellence in research and teaching. In RAE2008, 95% of our research was deemed to be of an international standard, with 70% in the top two categories (i.e. 3* and 4*), and the most recent National Student Survey revealed a 90% student satisfaction rate, amongst the best in the Russell Group of leading UK universities. This post is being advertised as part of the continued expansion of the Department. This expansion is built on our recent successes in attracting research grant income, and growth in student numbers at postgraduate level, including an increase in the number
of PhD students.

Applications are welcomed from ambitious, talented and highly motivated individuals who can make a leading contribution to research and teaching in any area of economics. You will demonstrate innovative research and scholarship with an international reputation and a strong record of research publication. You will be expected to provide research leadership within your specialist areas and to contribute to academic leadership within the Department, the Faculty and the wider University.

You will hold a PhD in a relevant area (or have equivalent experience) with a proven teaching ability and evidence of sustained and continuing research performance. You should have experience of working effectively on a collaborative basis with a demonstrable interest in developing teaching and research. This post is available from September 2015 although an earlier (or later) start is negotiable by mutual agreement.

Salary: Grade 9 £48,743 - £54,841 per annum, with the potential to progress to £63,552
