Portland Cement Association (PCA) (www.cement.org ), founded in 1916, is headquartered in Skokie, Illinois and represents 98% of US cement capacity with nearly 100 plants in 36 states and distribution in all 50.

PCA's mission is to "improve and expand the uses of cement and concrete through market development, research, and public affairs." Both national and regional programs are focused on two key areas: promotion and advocacy. PCA is engaged in multiple industry alliances and partnerships consistent with its purpose, including a founding and lead role in the Concrete Joint Sustainability Initiative (JSI), a forum of 28 concrete-related national associations, coordinating sustainability plans and programs.

The Sr. Regional Economist provides leadership for state level analysis by identifying and evaluating economic trends and their prospective impacts on local construction markets. Primary responsibilities include performing state cement demand forecasts and conveying guidance to industry stakeholders. Furthermore, the Regional Economist is responsible for ad hoc written research reports, regional economic impact studies, and monthly industry reporting.

The Successful Candidate would be expected to:
• Design research approaches, identify appropriate analytical methods, conduct rigorous quantitative analysis, write reports, and present findings to internal & external groups;

• Conduct state level forecasting of construction and cement related markets. Maintain & develop regional econometric models and relational databases;

• Continually monitor regional key performance indicators and other economic metrics (i.e., housing permits, construction spending, employment, state finances …);

• Ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines, including many projects concurrently, while working individually or overseeing ad hoc teams;

• Ability to assess and develop unique analytical approaches that fit projects' needs under little guidance;

• Serve as regional industry spokesperson and present analysis at industry events;

• Review and provided quality/content control for monthly department and organization publications.

The Sr. Regional Economist's projections and analysis aid PCA and its Members in strategic planning and promotion efforts. Through conference presentations and various multimedia platforms, the Regional Economist keeps Members, affiliate groups, and the media well informed of trends in their local markets and enhances PCA's visibility.

Do you possess the following?
• Advanced degree; completed or in progress.
• Three to five years work related to forecasting, econometric trend analysis, and database management;
• Detailed knowledge of statistical, analytical, and forecasting techniques. Knowledge of computer programming and relational databases (EViews, SPSS, SQL, VBA, SAS) a plus
• Proficiency in handling and analyzing large datasets with attention to details to ensure data quality;
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts and presenting complicated results to a diverse audience, technical and non-technical. Strong written and public speaking skills a must;
• Proficiency in MS Office tools
