By 2030 London is expected to grow in size by 1.1 million people, equivalent to the current population of Birmingham.
To remain a leading world city London must invest in its transport system, in part to meet expanding demand and to replace aging assets, but also so that systems provide customers with high quality, integrated services that are both efficient and reliable.
TfL is currently spending some £1.5 billion a year on its transport infrastructure and plans to do this for the foreseeable future. This includes spending on new Underground and Overground trains, automated signalling systems, new and better stations that capitalise on the latest technologies available to us, new infrastructure, iconic buses, the DLR and London's roads.
Senior Revenue Analysts provide high-level support for their line managers, analysing the patterns and nature of passenger travel and evaluating proposals for developments to fares and ticketing, all of which underpin decisions in many areas such as income forecasting, evaluation of fares options and the assessment of future ticketing system changes.
There is a strong emphasis on using economic data from a wide range of internal and external sources and building econometric models to explain trends in demand. In this role you will draw on a wide range of information including internal data on ticket sales and revenues, Oyster and Contactless usage data, and external data on inflation and economic activity. You will undertake a wide variety of analytical tasks, such as explaining what is driving demand for travel or forecasting the effects of fares changes.
As a Senior Revenue Analyst you will analyse and interpret fares revenue and ridership data and the factors affecting them, together with development of the appropriate statistical models, in order to provide an explanation of trends for senior management across all the TfL modes and to produce revenue and ridership forecasts. You will evaluate the customer, revenue and ridership impacts of fares revision options and ticketing initiatives across all TfL public transport modes and National Rail in London. You will develop established computer models and creating new ones as required, in order that the financial and other impacts of fares and ticketing changes are properly understood. You will also provide analytical support to the Customer Technology Team regarding the further development of the Contactless Payment ticketing medium, to ensure that the system continues to meet the requirements of the customer proposition and supports the necessary back-office processes, particularly relating to revenue allocation.
To succeed in this role you will have significant experience in economic analysis, with additional experience in accounting, market research or business analysis also desirable. You will also be experienced in complex data analysis and/or model building tasks and have a track record of delivering results from systems involving high volumes of transactions.
