Senior Transportation Economist

Steer Davies Gleave is an employee-owned international transportation consulting firm. We advise clients in the public and private sectors on transportation policy, infrastructure investment strategic planning, service design, and planning or business strategy. Our work frequently involves the development and application of state-of-the-art techniques in travel demand modeling and forecasting, economic analysis (cost-benefit analysis, regional forecasting, impact analysis) and various areas of policy advisory.

We are seeking to fill an opening for an Senior Economist in our New York office to accommodate an increasing portfolio of challenging and multi-disciplinary projects, both within the Northeast, the US and globally. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in transportation and/or regional economics, strong quantitative skills (including experience applying econometrics and statistics).

The position will entail providing technical expertise in the delivery of strategic economic advice to our global client base, working on a varied array of challenging projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly innovative, ambitious and multi-dimensional candidate to perform in a client facing, technically focused role.
Opportunities will be provided to lead projects from concept creation through to completion.

Essential Requirements:
• Educated to Master's level or higher in Economics, Regional Science or related field.
• Able to demonstrate a proven track record in the provision of economic advice to clients, specifically in relation to:
- Demand and revenue forecasting
- Economic analysis (including cost-benefit analysis)
- Economic impact assessment
- Regional modelling and forecasting
- Risk analysis
• Excellent grounding economics and econometrics.
• Proven track record in working to project deadlines, budgetary targets and maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong analytical and numerical based skills.
• Knowledge and experience using major statistical software such as Stata or E-views.
• Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and successfully influence a wide range of stakeholders (internally and externally).
• Highly disciplined with close attention to detail.
• Able to work as part of a team or independently.

Desired but not essential:
• Familiarity with transportation and urban economics.
• Project management qualification and/or related project management experience.
