Sr Research Economist

RTI is recruiting for a Sr. Research Economist to lead and direct projects relating to health economics and health services research, committed to providing the highest quality technical solutions to current health care policy issues. Apply skills in research design and statistical methods to support the development of tools and options for addressing complex health care policy and health system problems for government and non-government clients. Manage and mentor project team members across large and multidisciplinary teams. Develop strategic business opportunities with new and existing clients as the health care financing and payment program continues to grow its offerings across a broad base of federal, state, commercial, foundation, and international clients.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

Design analyses to evaluate the impact of health care programs and policies, or to support the implementation of health care programs testing payment redesign.
Direct teams in performing research tasks of significant technical complexity.
Perform advanced economic and statistical analyses.
Act as a subject matter expert on federal public health insurance program payment policy.

Implementation and evaluation of payers process/cycle/standards.
Design and manage data file construction using health care claims data and other data sources.
Design and manage complex data analyses developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions to research questions.
Manage quality control processes across all aspects of projects to ensure delivery of high quality and accurate work products.
Make presentations of research and policy analyses to clients and at professional conferences
Manage and mentor junior, mid-level, and other senior staff to achieve project goals.
Develop and manage budgets to achieve project goals within available financial resources.
Plan and direct the entire preparation of large proposals of significant technical complexity, contract value, or strategic importance.
Develop and expand RTI reputation as "resident expert" in a technical/methodological area (e.g., authoring articles published in peer-reviewed journals; making presentations to internal/external clients and at professional meetings, etc.).
Develop "new" business opportunities by establishing close client relationships and being recognized for technical expertise.
Expand current business avenues

Required skills:

Bachelor's degree and 12 years' experience in health economics or health services research; Master's degree and 9 years' experience in health economics or health services research; or PhD and 6 years' experience in health economics or health services research.
Demonstrated success in developing proposals and winning projects with federal/state agencies, commercial clients, private sector, International and/or foundations.
Experience directing large teams and developing client relationships.
Must have strong quantitative, policy analysis, and writing skills
Experience supporting health services research projects.
