Job Description

The Staff Economist will be a member of a functional team that aims to enable quality business decisions by serving as guardians of value, decision analysts, and trusted advisors throughout project maturation and delivery.

Responsible to provide:

Modeling and evaluation of business opportunities such as:
A&D (both Asset and Corporate)
Organic New Business
Exploration Frontier
Integrated Gas (LNG Export, Regas, LNG Market Development)
Deepwater operations and opportunities
Onshore Unconventional projects
Quality economic evaluations
Robust and fit-for-purpose decision analysis support, such as risk and uncertainty analysis
Effective and timely challenge, guidance, and support in making quality investment decisions
Development, maintenance, and use of approved economic tools (typically Excel based)
Peer-review of economic models and calculation assurance
Decision framing assistance
Mentoring of new economists in modeling and evaluation efforts

Requirements
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in a commercial or technical discipline, such as Economics, Business, Engineering, Geosciences, etc.
10+ years of experience in the Upstream O&G industry providing economic analysis and valuations
Knowledge of the key principles of Decision Quality and experience applying them to investment decisions
Understanding of economic analysis techniques and practical application of economic theory, decision theory/tools, and statistical analysis
Strong business analysis skills and the ability to organize, analyze, and communicate impact of decisions to team members, senior management, partners, and regulatory agencies
Proficient in accounting and economic based performance measures
Experience with the screening and evaluation of commercial opportunities
Advanced Financial modeling skills using Microsoft Excel
Self-starter with sound judgment and strong inter-relationship skills (listening, inquiry, advocacy, facilitation, and negotiation)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills including broad intuitive thinking coupled with an inquisitive nature
Results-driven team player who is comfortable working in a diverse work environment
Must be able to deliver on tight time schedules, working effectively with peers, asset staff, asset management, and JV partners
This role will be based in Houston, TX at our Woodcreek facility
