Performs data management and statistical analysis for complex research projects. Participates in planning, design and development of research protocols and writing research papers for publication. Oversees maintenance of computer software and hardware. Writes computer programs as needed. Supervises data entry/programming staff.
The Statistician is skilled in statistical data analysis and has a strong interest cancer biology. This role involves close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, computer scientists, mathematicians, statisticians, and economists. Additionally, the candidate will design and perform quantitative analyses of imaging experiments on cancer tissues to investigate the spatial structure of tumors. The successful applicant will have experience analyzing microscopy images, preferably of cancer cells and tissues. The ability to communicate with cancer biologists and clinicians is key to success in this position. This role will include all levels of data manipulation, from file formatting to advanced machine learning. The ability to communicate effectively with researchers across these domains is essential to success in this position. Contributions will also be made to current and future development of grant applications, scientific research and scientific manuscripts for CAMM.
Preferred Education: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (computer science, statistics, engineering, etc.)
Preferred Experience: Three or more years' experience analyzing microscopy images, at least two first- or senior-author publications in high profile journals
Preferred Field of Expertise: Computer Science, Statistics or Engineering; experience with R or Matlab, microscopy analysis platforms (e.g. Imaris, CellProfiler, ImageJ), at least one of the languages: Java, C/C++, or Python, machine learning techniques
Posting Salary Range: $56,250- $99,999

Minimum Field of Expertise: Biometry, Biostatistics or Statistics; mainframe and PC experience; experience with SAS, Epilog, BMDP, GLIM or SPSS and programming languages such as FORTRAN, C++.
