Job Description

Job Purpose:
Senior role in writing global macro strategy, formulation of thematic ideas, trade recommendations cross market
Client interaction probably of around 150-200 client "events" per year (conference call, meeting, conference etc.)
Mentoring of junior staff
Intellectual soundboard team head

Job Background/context:
Citi Research focuses on delivering high quality investment insights to clients on a global basis. The unit includes Equity and Fixed Income research as well as Economic analysis; and has staff in 25 locations around the world. Citi Research is committed to maintaining the highest level of independence and objectivity in its proprietary products and insights.

Key Responsibilities:
Writing clear concise insightful macro research to deadlines
Client and internal profile for product and team
Development of models and tools

Personal Specification

Knowledge/Experience:
Experience of macro markets either as a markets facing economist or strategist for minimum 5 years most likely
Cross asset knowledge or experience a major plus
Enthusiasm for markets and adding value to investment management

Skills:
Strong technical skills a major plus (excel, VBA, macro bond, Bloomberg, database management etc.)
Econometrics a plus
Strong communication skills essential both for internal and external client communication
Team player, ability to handle stressed environment and legal and regulatory challenges

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree level candidate as a minimum
Post graduate degree is preferred but not required

Competencies:
A proven team player given the nature of the role i.e. franchise development and the need for partnerships.
Accuracy with a great attention to detail
Methodical approach and strong organisational capabilities
