We are seeking a senior US Economist to join our portfolio management team in our Newport Beach, CA headquarters. This individual will be expected to contribute to the investment process by working closely with the portfolio managers in formulating US economic and policy view.

Responsibilities will include:

Forecasting and commenting on the main US economic data releases and monetary policy events
Maintaining and updating a detailed US GDP forecast and alternative scenarios
Developing and maintaining a suite of econometric models to analyze various aspects of the economy and monetary policy
Contributing to PIMCO's Cyclical Forums and to internal and external PIMCO publications on the US economic and policy outlook
Interfacing with clients to discuss PIMCO's economic outlook

Position Requirements

Advanced degree (Master or Ph.D.) in Economics
Minimum five years of work experience in forecasting the US economy in the private or public sector
Solid knowledge of applied econometric methods
Strong written and oral communication skills
