JOB DESCRIPTION

The main function of the US Economist role is to provide reliable and relevant analysis and forecasts. The US Economist will work closely with the Chief Economist of the Americas to collect, monitor and analyze economic and financial data for the United States and Canada. This is necessary to establish short- and long-term scenarios. Natixis' professionals and clients will use this analysis accordingly. The candidate will present research to internal (Natixis' executives, trading rooms) and external clients (institutional investors, assets managers, mid and large caps). The role also involves close connectivity with research colleagues in Paris. Furthermore, the candidate will sit on the trading desk and do real-time analysis for the sales and traders.

Work out forecasting economic models and define macroeconomic scenarios published on a regular basis.
Analyze the economic situation using statistical techniques and to conduct forecasts on this basis.
Assess economic policies (budgetary and monetary) and the impact of institutional changes on the economy and the financial system.
Regularly inform internal and external clients by written or oral communication.
Carry out studies for specific needs, in collaboration with other internal services (origination, sales, etc.) and the other economists/strategists of Natixis.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required. Masters or PhD in Finance or Economics preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in economic analysis or related field.
Dynamic presentation skills and ability to present insightful content to business leaders, clients and publicly at conferences and in the media.
Experience working in a matrix work environment.
Ability to lead research initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey thoughts clearly and succinctly and to communication pertinent complex information in an organized manner.
