The Award winning Natural Resources Institute (NRI) (www.nri.org) is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary centre of the University of Greenwich that undertakes research, consultancy and training to support sustainable development, food security, economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries. NRI's portfolio of value chain economics research and consultancy is growing, with new opportunities in postharvest losses, monitoring and evaluation practice, micro finance and enterprise development. The Value Chain Economist will support on-going collaborative programmes in a diverse range of countries and locations to assist national and international organisations to improve food security in various ways. The post requires someone with both quantitative and qualitative skills in value chain analysis, and who is willing to develop skills in a range of different products and apply them to practical developmental problems through research, consultancy and teaching.

You will join the Food and Markets Department and join an established cadre of social scientists working in the field. You will have, or plan to have, a PhD, experience value chain aspects of development projects, and evidence of publication. The position is based at our Medway Campus and will involve frequent short-term overseas travel.
