Except as set forth within this Privacy Statement and our Terms and Conditions and other published guidelines, we do not release personally identifiable information about our members and visitors without their permission.

A. The information we gather.

Econ-Jobs.com gathers two types of information about users:

1. Non-personally identifiable information (information that does not identify a specific individual):

i) When visitors use the website's services, we collect and aggregate information about how the site is navigated. This includes which pages were visited and which links were used. Collecting such information is done in conjunction with Google Analytics and involves the collection and logging of IP addresses, operating system, and browser software used by each user of the web site. Although such information is not personally identifiable, it is possible to determine from the IP address a visitor's Internet Service Provider and the rough geographic location of his or her point of connectivity.

ii) The non-personally identifiable information we collect helps us identify the most popular areas of our web site and determine the effectiveness of our promotional activities. In addition, we may disclose some of this information to employers/advertisers to inform them of the number of people who have seen and/or clicked through their advertisements.

iii) We collect non-personally identifiable information in part through the use of "cookies" - which are small text files placed on your computer's hard drive - that help us determine the type of content and pages to which you link, the length of time you spend at any particular area of the website, and the website services that you choose to use. Cookies are only read by the server that placed them, and are unable to execute any code or virus; they will not permit a Web site operator to learn any personally identifiable information (see below) about you unless you have previously provided that information to the web site operator or you have set the preferences in your browser to provide this information. You can choose not to allow cookies by changing the settings of your web browswer.

iv) Additionally, the website contain links to other third party Web sites, including employers' websites and other affiliated sites which may or may not be owned or operated by or in conjunction with Econ-Jobs.com. You acknowledge that we do not monitor or control the information collection or privacy practices of any third parties, and are not responsible for their practices or the content of their web sites, including their use of any information (such as IP number, browser type, or operating system) collected when visitors or Members click through links to their sites.

2. Personally identifiable information:

i) In certain areas of the website services - such as those in which you register or complete a profile - we may request that you provide us with certain personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, town, profession, education or work experience. We will, in such situations, seek to identify which informational items are required and which are optional.

ii) During registration economics job seekers have the option of selecting whether they want their profile information to be visible to employers, although their name and email address will be kept hidden unless the job seeker replies to an employer's request to make contact or uploads their CV. If you select this option you should post information to your profiles on Econ-Jobs.com only if you wish such information to be viewed by Econ-Jobs.com economist employers. At any time, job seekers may elect that their profile information cannot be seen by Econ-Jobs.com economist employers by logging into their account and changing the status of their profile. If the employer desires to contact the confidential job seeker regarding an employment opportunity, they will send an email to the job seeker through the Econ-Jobs.com system. The job seeker will then have the option to contact the employer.

iii) During registration economics job seekers have the option of selecting whether they want to be listed in the Econ-Jobs.com friend search. This will mean that their name, employer, profile picture and town/city will be visible to other economics jobseekers who are searching for their friends and colleagues to add to their professional network. If a job seeker accepts a friend request from another job seeker, their profile will be visible to that job seeker. Job seekers must ensure that they only accept friend requests from people that they trust with their information. At any time, job seekers may elect that their information cannot be seen in the Econ-Jobs.com friend search by logging into their account and changing the status of their profile. Further, at any time, job seekers may remove friends from their network and stop sharing their information with them.

iv) Economics Job seekers have the option of selecting whether they want to host a public profile on Econ-Jobs.com. This will allow their profile to be found by search engines like Google and visible to members of the public. This offers an opportunity for job seekers to promote themselves beyond the economist employers that are currently using Econ-Jobs.com. Their email address will be kept hidden their email address will only be made visible to potential employers if the job seeker replies to an employer's request to make contact. If you select this option you should post information to your profiles on Econ-Jobs.com only if you wish such information to be viewed by members of the public. At any time, job seekers may elect that their profile information should not be public by logging into their account and changing the status of their profile.
