Empirics and Methods in Economics (EMCON) 2017

University of Chicago / Northwestern
Chicago - United States
13th October 2017 - 14th October 2017

The Empirics and Methods in Economics Conference (EMCON) is a two-day student-run conference for PhD students interested in applied topics and empirical methods in Economics. The conference offers students an excellent opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas with their peers and receive feedback from a discussant and a diverse audience.

This year’s conference will take place place on October 13-14, 2017 at the University of Chicago and is sponsored by the departments of Economics at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. We are pleased to announce that Michael Greenstone (UChicago) will give the keynote talk, and Mar Reguant (Northwestern) will give concluding remarks. Faculty members from both organizing universities will attend the presentations.

The conference is generously supported by the Center for the Study of Development Economics (CSDE), the Becker-Friedman Institute (BFI) at the University of Chicago, the Buffett Institute and the Applied Micro Center at Northwestern University. Partial reimbursement for transportation expenses is available. Meals during the conference will be covered, but we are not able to pay for participants’ accommodation. If requested, we will match conference participants with local student hosts.
