Overview:

The Core Analysis function in the Integrated Policy Analysis (IPA) Group is responsible for developing policy-relevant and integrated analysis of U.S. and foreign economies, financial markets, institutions, and infrastructures to help achieve the Federal Reserve's macroeconomic, microprudential and macroprudential objectives.

The Global Economic Analysis (GEA) department within IPA is responsible for analyzing macro-economic, policy and political developments in the international sector, including preparing FOMC forecasts, assessing foreign monetary and fiscal policies, assessing key risks in the global economy, and identifying spillovers from U.S. policies. The department also evaluates country and transfer risk on behalf of the Inter-Agency Country Exposure Review Committee and is involved in projects encompassing a wide range of international macroeconomic and financial sector issues. GEA maintains extensive external relationships with members of the financial and official community, and regularly briefs and informs senior management on international macroeconomic developments and policy issues
Candidates must be able to obtain U.S. Security Clearance which includes verification of US Citizenship.

Responsibilities:

Analyze economic, political and policy developments in foreign economies, producing a range of analysis on country and regional economic issues;
Lead projects and long-term research on international economic issues;
Prepare consistent macroeconomic forecasts, utilizing econometric and other formal modeling techniques, and serve as a resource on international macroeconomic data sources;
Provide written reports, oral briefings, and country risk reviews in support of the Inter-Agency Country Exposure Review Committee; Actively contribute to IPA discussions on international macroeconomic issues;
Collaborate effectively across the Bank and System to enable information flow and integrated analysis and perspective;
Build and maintain active contacts, including through periodic travel, with financial market participants, the academic community, private analysts and policymakers;
Take an active role in helping senior management in the development of analytical objectives and goals.

Requirements:

PhD or Master's degree in Economics with a strong background in international economics, finance and macroeconomic analysis;
At least 10 years of relevant experience in an academic, policy or business research environment;
Demonstrated advanced analytical and research skills as well as a solid background in econometrics, including the ability to analyze economic and policy developments affecting advanced and emerging market countries;
Familiarity with country risk analysis, preferably alongside demonstrated expertise in issues relevant to a key region or regions;
Proven ability to provide effective verbal and written analysis on a regular basis, including superior presentation skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with senior management and to develop and maintain market and governmental contacts.
