ABOUT US: The Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) is the finance group of the faculty of Law, Economics, and Finance at the University of Luxembourg. The University of Luxembourg, a public university funded by the Luxembourg government, has a strong research focus. Our core objective is to be an academic leader in the creation and dissemination of an integrated body of knowledge in finance. The LSF emphasizes high quality research and aims to be a leading finance group within Europe. The group at the LSF is growing and we aim to hire several senior and junior faculty positions over the next few years. The LSF hosts the Luxembourg Asset Management Summit and a top-quality seminar series. The LSF is active in hiring on the junior job market at the AFA meetings (we hired graduates from e.g. Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Tilburg, Montreal, or HEC Paris). Furthermore, the LSF has various highly successful teaching programs and is closely connected with the financial industry in Luxembourg. Mission
• The professor shall play an active role in establishing the LSF as a leading European finance group.
• The professor to be appointed must be engaged in high-quality research and contribute to the departmental research output by leading and supervising of research projects.
• The candidate will help to develop a master in asset management at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance.
• The future professor will be able to contribute to the student education in the master and executive, doctoral and bachelor programmes at the LSF.
• S/he may offer teaching courses including those for executive professionals relating to Luxembourg's economy, specifically the Financial Sector.
• The Professor of Finance and Asset Management will be a direct point of contact for external stakeholders and partners, and collaborate and exchange ideas with the local financial industry to develop viable formats for targeted and sustainable knowledge transfer through teaching, training and events.
• The candidate is expected to develop and manage Outreach activities with a special focus on Asset Management.
• The professor to be appointed will engage in LSF outreach endeavors and fundraising activities. S/he will be a direct point of contact for external stakeholders and partners, and will promote knowledge transfer to the local industry as well as in executive education and training.
• S/he will support the marketing and branding FDEF's life-long learning and third cycle education activities.

Profile
• A PhD in Finance or related discipline, completed at least three years ago
• Experience with and aptitude for high quality research
• A significant record of publications in internationally recognised, peer-reviewed academic journals
• Entrepreneurial spirit, team player, and good communication skills are required
• Knowledge of the Luxembourgish society is considered to be an advantage
• Work experience with/in the financial industry
• Work experience at a successful business school is considered to be an advantage
• The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual and multicultural environment. For this position an excellent command of spoken and written English is necessary. Fluency in French, German and Luxembourgish is considered to be an advantage.

"The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. It is desired that the successful candidate will have a working knowledge in English and in at least one of the two following languages: French and German. However, it is also possible to obtain proficiency in a second language after being hired as the University provides access to language classes. A basic knowledge of French had to be acquired during the first two years.”
