Opportunity

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Analyst to support the Social and Economic Policy division across the range of substantive areas the division is engaged in, particularly in the areas of technical assistance and program support for housing, homeless, community development programs as well as education, food security, income security, and workforce.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Independently performs a variety of research, analysis and technical assistance tasks and may provide training and technical supervision to less experienced staff.
Translating highly technical concepts and ideas into easy to understand and digestible guidance for non-technical readers
With supervision, works in communities to assess needs and define planning goals, identifying technical support and capacity building strategies most likely to improve community capacity to deliver services.
Delivers technical assistance both remotely and in person to educate and train adult learners.
Collects, compiles, validates, interprets and analyzes data and trends using standard practices and techniques in the field(s) of specialization.
Participates in portions of a large, project(s) and/or proposals.
May coordinate multiple, routine to moderately complex and high impact projects and/or proposals.
Applies standard and non-standard quantitative and/or qualitative methods and techniques.
Trains and assists less experienced staff and troubleshoot questions and problems.
Uses internet-based search techniques to expand knowledge of subject matter, resources and available tools and summarizes findings for review.
Under indirect to general supervision, collaborates with clients by telephone or in person to survey, solicit or collect information or to direct interviews.
Implements procedures for data collection, manipulation and analysis during all project phases.
May apply statistical programming applications such as SAS, SPSS or other specialized applications.
May apply qualitative analysis techniques and methods such as NVivo or ethnographic methods.
Develops charts, graphs and presentations applying intermediate level application skills.
May manage project components, delegating and reviewing work for accuracy, and quality.
Keeps abreast of trends and developments in related fields.


Preferred Skills/Prerequisites

Knowledge of HUD assistance programs
Technical and task management skills required.
Writing ability.
Independent ability to manage time.
Skills with quantitative and/or qualitative analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, NVivo.


Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS (3 - 5) OR MA/MBA (Entry Level) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
