The Economics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in international trade and applied microeconomics. The emphasis is in international trade and applied microeconomics with possible overlap with development, labor, immigration, industrial organization, and other fields in applied microeconomics. Possible related areas of teaching might include introductory, intermediate, and graduate levels of international trade, econometrics, and topics in applied microeconomics.
The Economics Department has a Ph.D. program, a professional Master's program, and several undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level (including classroom); advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students; contribute to graduate education, the research environment of the department, and to university and professional service. The successful candidate must be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. RANK: Assistant Professor (tenure-track), academic year (9-month) basis
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in Economics or related field; demonstrated research experience in international trade and applied microeconomics and demonstrated teaching ability. It is expected the degree requirements are completed by June 30, 2019.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated expertise in international trade and applied microeconomics. Degree requirements completed by June 30, 2018.
POSITION AVAILABLE: July 1, 2018, with academic year beginning September 2018. Degree requirements must be met by June 30, 2019 for employment beyond that date.
