Opportunity
Abt Associates seeks a qualified Associate / Economist to support the Division of Health and Environment in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Perform economic, financial, and other quantitative analyses on issues of environmental and natural resource regulation and policy, particularly as it pertains to programs under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, climate change, and/or clean energy and energy efficiency.
Work closely with senior level staff in performing these analyses.
Assist in the preparation of documents, option papers, and other reports of work performed.
Preferred Skills / Prerequisites
Working with economics and regulatory policy
Working with economic, environmental, and/or survey data
Research experience in federal water pollution control programs and regulations, global climate change, and/or clean energy and energy efficiency
Research experience with sophisticated economic/environmental modeling and/or statistical/econometric analysis, especially using statistical software packages such as SAS
Proficiency using database software such as Access
An outstanding academic record with course work in environmental/resource economics, finance, quantitative methods, biology, physical and/or environmental sciences
Excellent oral communication, writing, and analytical skills
Minimum Qualifications
MA/MBA with 7 - 10 years of experience OR PhD with 4 - 6 years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience. In cases of internal promotion, an exception may be made to the minimum requirements based on company needs and the proven ability of the incumbent to perform the key roles and responsibilities of this position.
