Housed within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Policy, the highly successful Department of Political Economy is the only academic department of its kind in the UK. Teaching and research in the department is informed by an understanding of the interdependence between economic and political institutions. As part of ambitious growth plans, the Department is now recruiting a Chair in Economics to join this unique and interdisciplinary enterprise. The successful applicant will be an outstanding scholar in the field of Economics with a proven track record of successful academic scholarship.

As Chair of Economics, you will combine excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, have a track record of attracting funded research, and a significant publication profile to make a strong contribution to the next Research Excellence Framework. The successful candidate will also contribute to the intellectual and strategic leadership of the Department, ensuring the delivery of world-leading research and teaching in a thriving inter-disciplinary setting. The Department welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in any aspect of Economics that coheres with the political economy focus of our teaching and research.
