There is an immediate opening for a Consultant level hire in the Environment, Energy & Network industries (EEN) practice, based in our Madrid office.

The role involves communicating with clients, coordinating with subcontractors, preparing proposals and qualification statements for potential projects and assisting in the identification of new project areas. Responsibilities may include providing research, analysis and advice to clients in the energy/ water/ telecoms sector(s); reviewing, summarising and analysing secondary research; collecting and analysing market data, industry trends, and financial and economic information; building and using spread sheet models; creating trial exhibits; drafting memos, expert reports and presentation materials. The types of analyses include cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, valuation, and economic impact modelling.

The incumbent may play an active role in relationship management and business development; building rapport with clients and developing a clear and detailed understanding of the business and client expectations, scoping projects, writing proposals, managing projects to time and budget and contributing to or writing papers, articles and books. The incumbent will manage multiple projects concurrently and will also mentor, manage and recruit staff and participate in team meetings.

We are seeking candidates with an MSc or PhD in economics, and a strong academic record, plus at least 5 years of prior work experience. Financial valuation experience and prior experience working at a regulator or in economic consulting are preferred. Candidates must be organised, possess exceptional writing and quantitative skills and have a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Business level fluency in Spanish and English is required. Candidates must possess working rights for Spain. Some travel may be required.
