Director - Game Economist

Activision is seeking an Economist capable of applying academic and business principles to test, learn, iterate, and improve in-game experiences for players as it relates to virtual currency, monetization, game design and player engagement. You will take on the task of running field experiments, determining causal inference, modeling demand, and building simulations of complex in-game economies. You will be responsible for advising game studios across our portfolio of billion-dollar Call of Duty games, each with millions of players.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to a Senior Director with an Economics Ph.D., you will join an internal economics consulting practice. Responsibilities include:

· Support econometric analysis of experimental and observational data
· Run and study field experiments to draw insights about player behavior
· Develop metrics and monitor the health of a live multimillion-dollar service business
· Build economic models to forecast revenue and player activity
· Communicate clearly with non-technical audiences about economic impacts on game design, monetization, user acquisition, and player engagement
· Work together with game designers to improve the balancing and inner workings of game economies

REQUIREMENTS
· Recent PhD in economics, policy, finance, econometrics, or marketing science; may consider Master's Degree with deep technical experience
· Candidate must have ability to apply training to real-world issues, with real-world deadlines
· Experience in applied econometrics, statistical inference. Mastery of analysis software such as R, Matlab, or Python
· Experience with macroeconomic simulation models of heterogeneous agents and optimization
· A love for deep, complex video games
