The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized United Nations agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger. It does so by investing in rural people. IFAD finances programmes and projects that increase agricultural productivity and raise rural incomes, and advocates at the local, national and international level for policies that contribute to rural transformation.

IFAD is recruiting a Director (UN D1 level, three-year fixed term appointment) to lead the Research and Impact Assessment Division (RIA) within the Strategy and Knowledge Management Department (SKD). The Director RIA will lead, manage and motivate a team of researchers and is responsible for managing and supervising the delivery of research and impact assessment programme of work within an allocated budget.

Qualifications include holding an advanced degree (a PhD would be a strong asset) in a technically relevant area (economics, agricultural and resource economics, applied economics, or related), having at least 12 years of relevant professional experience, and having a strong publications record related to research and impact evaluation. The applicant should have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and having a working knowledge of another official language of IFAD (Arabic, French, or Spanish) is desirable.
