Economic Advisor and Economist

Responsibilities include:
Briefs and counsels senior management and the Board of Directors (BOD) on topics concerning monetary policy, bank and financial regulation, financial markets, or the behavior of the national or regional economy in general, with minimal need for review by the section officer or other staff. Directs and advises staff economists on highly specialized research projects in fields of monetary policy, financial intermediation, banking, or urban/regional economics, which may be used for briefing senior management, for System projects, or for publication in professional journals. Contributes to the Bank's standing in the economic profession by conducting independent economic research and publishing research in professional journals and the department's Working Papers (WP) series. Contributes toward the Bank's public education objective by writing for the Economic Insight (f/k/a Business Review), giving speeches to outside audiences, preparing speeches or presentations for senior management, and contributing to System research projects. Independently anticipates economic issues of concern to the Bank; assists research officers in planning and coordinating work on issues. Oversees special projects/briefings involving other economists or research assistants.

Education and Skill Requirements:
Doctorate (PhD) degree in Economics or Finance or related field. 8 years of experience in Economics, Finance of Related Field - i.e., Teaching economics in academic setting accepted. Position specializes in consumer finance, financial markets & macroeconomic theory. Familiarity with relevant economic institutions and available data sources - typically acquired by gaining on-the-job experience within the Research Department or by acquiring related work experience in other research or academic positions.
Must have demonstrated competence in knowledge and application of advanced theoretical and quantitative techniques in economics or finance; recognized in profession for having substantial expertise and is able to provide in-depth analysis of complex economic issues using advanced theoretical and quantitative techniques. Recognition by the economics profession as having expertise in the field of study as evidenced through publication(s) in or service on editorial boards of top tier journals.

Salary Offered: $121,846.00/year or higher, commensurate with experience
Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm.
