This role is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team delivering economic and social projects to a variety of clients nationally and internationally. You will be involved in consulting, research and analysis on a range of projects across the many sectors in which Mott MacDonald works, particularly transport, infrastructure, land-use, buildings, environment, economic development (including economic impact analysis), health analytics and social & community. You will assist in the future development of Mott MacDonald's growing economic and social development business within our Manchester business, the wider UK and overseas. You will also play an active part in responding to bids and will be manage projects and interact with clients and stakeholders.

We are looking for a committed and confident candidate with relevant lead consultancy and technical experience. You also need the desire to work closely with colleagues on project work and business development activities to support growth in an exciting and ambitious team. We operate in a commercial environment and an ability to manage projects and project teams is essential for this post.

Job Description
Interpret each client brief and assist with or manage the production of bids
Be comfortable undertaking economic and socio-economic analysis as well as advising colleagues
Produce reports that are technically competent, clear and logical
Understand and keep pace with the changing policy and strategy framework in which our work takes place [Local Authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Combined Authorities, UK and European funding regimes, major scheme business cases, WebTAG, HM Treasury Green Book etc.]
Manage tasks and projects, supervising other team members as required
Work closely with our clients and develop strong relationships
Develop new business opportunities
Manage competing project responsibilities to meet deadlines and other project delivery commitments
Liaise confidently with internal clients and colleagues across Mott MacDonald to promote the work of the team
Work with colleagues within the Economic and Social Development team to grow the business within the UK and overseas

Candidate Specification
Relevant experience in economics, economic analysis, economic development or economic regeneration and economic planning
Good first degree (2:1) or above in preferably one of the following subjects: economics, economic development, regeneration, town planning or geography
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, including economic modelling in Excel
Excellent writing skills and experience of report writing
Good presentation skills
Experience of managing projects and interfacing with clients
Experience of engaging with external stakeholders
