The Local Intelligence team at Groupon is looking for economists and data scientists with at least a PhD and research interests in Industrial Organization, Microeconometrics, Two Sided Markets, or Entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate will have expertise in programming and querying languages, and experience/willingness to learn Hadoop, Hive, and Spark. You will collaborate with a team of brilliant data scientists, economists, engineers and product managers and will apply your expertise in these areas:

Application of economic and econometric principles to improve Groupon's marketplace

Designing, executing and measuring the results of large scale experiments

Interpreting and communicating insights and findings to product, service, and business managers

Requirements:

PhD degree in Economics or related quantitative field, with an emphasis on data mining, statistics, machine learning or statistical learning.

Experience with pricing; designing, executing and measuring multivariate tests, optimization

Strong R and SQL skills. Experience/willingness to learn big data technologies like Hadoop and Hive.
